About the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Hello and welcome to my website! I am Rhonda J. Banford, M.A.T., CCC-SLP,
speech-language pathologist at Tip of the Tongue Speech and Language, LLC
in Ballwin, MO. Here are some facts about me:
- I graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans with a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- I am certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed in MO
- I am certified in the state of MO as an Early Childhood Special Educator.
- I have taken Level 1 Prompt Training.
- I am trained in the Compton P-ESL method for foreign accent modification.
- I designed and taught an intensive speech class at Rockwood School District for unintelligible preschoolers. I continue to offer a similar program in the form of summer camp, called SCAMP.
- I have a special interest in childhood apraxia of speech and oral-motor concerns and have taken trainings by Nancy Kaufman, Pam Marshalla, Edythe Strand, Shelley Velleman, Diane Bahr, Char Boshart, Julie Hoffmann, and others.
- I am a member of the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) and the Missouri State Orofacial Myology Association (MOSOMA). Having completed my coursework with Sandra Holtzman, I am in the process of becoming a certified orofacial myologist.
- In the early part of my career, I taught a self-contained class for children with severe language disorders. It was there that I gained my first experience in working on the many aspects of receptive and expressive language and reading difficulties.
- I am married and have two grown daughters.
- I love animals, particularly dogs. My dogs, Tilly and Lila, often accompany me to work. My
beautiful cat, Osiris, waits for us at home.
